Hiking Bud # 2 is hurting

My # 2 hiking bud, my 7 yr old Whippet, Raphe, is hurting. He hurt himself Friday evening and is having problems getting around. He may recover fully but we are just not sure. He may have has some nerve damage to his two back legs. He’s on anti- inflamation meds for now. I think he slammed into a tree in our Back yard.
I’m not a huge “animal fan” although I enjoy other people’s pets. But I am a great fan of MY animal(s). If you look back thru all the pics I have uploaded, Raphe usually in a few shots. I sure hope he will be on the trail again next year.
Summer is over. Kenaihiking.com slows down a bit. But I hope you all stay active thru winter. I am so thankful for the beauty of God’s creation.

Oh my gosh! What happened to Raphe? He’s our mascot! He can’t be injured! Please keep us posted.

Not sure what the problem is. I found out that whippets have very complicated bone structure and there’s different things that could be wrong. As of today hie is hobbling better and can even stoop to do his business. But it’s like riding in a car that needs a bad tune up.
His rear legs aren’t too sure what to do. He’s actually having to remember how to walk again. He still has problems going up stairs but has started hopping a bit like an over-sized rabbit to get up stairs.
Everyday seems does just a bit better than the day before so I’m still hopeful. But it’s hard to believe he will run flat-out again. And it’s pretty sad to see him without all that gracefulness.
